Welcome to Pocket Ireland

The image shows a smartphone with a green, blurry silhouette in place of the actual content taking up most of the screen. The device has dual cameras in the top left corner.

Hi there! Welcome to my website. My name is Samuel, a.k.a. Smartphone Photographer on Bluesky. I'm an amateur photographer who loves taking and editing pictures with the one, powerful tool that everyone has with them all the time: their smartphone.

While smartphone cameras have their limitations, their versatility, ease-of-use, and portability are truly unmatched. I want to demonstrate that the little flat slab you carry in your pocket is the perfect device for capturing and editing awesome photos, and the natural landscapes and wildlife of Ireland are the perfect focus for this! I hope you enjoy looking around :)

ONE: A Smartphone

My current phone is the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. Older photos on this site were taken on a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia Z5.

TWO: An Editing App

For the vast majority of my photos, Snapseed by Google is the only app I use to edit them. It’s free and super easy to use. It’s available in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
