Chasing the Mist

On the way back from a Wicklow Mountains hike, I pulled over to snap this as I was passing Glenmacnass Waterfall. What caught my eye on this occasion wasn't just the water itself, but the way the sunlight was interacting with the spray on this crisp, cool day. The mist was rising up like steam, glowing bright white against the darker, moody backdrop of the pine forest. It created this brilliant separation between the golden grasses in the foreground and the trees behind. It’s moments like this where the atmosphere does all the heavy lifting. It just looked so ethereal and peaceful.
