Sunlight Striking the Dark

Deep in the heart of Ballyfad Wood, the light on this day didn’t just fall; it sliced through the canopy. As I walked, the forest floor was dim, but a break in the clouds sent a spotlight hitting just this cluster of trunks.

To emphasise that feeling of the trees "flowing" in the darkness, I relied heavily on Snapseed’s 'Ambience' and 'Contrast' tools. I pulled the shadows down to remove the background distractions, which forced the viewer's eye straight to that textured, sun-drenched bark. It’s a great reminder that sometimes, what you choose to hide in a photo is just as important as what you choose to show.
