Natural Ladders

I spotted this incredible natural sculpture while wandering through Mount Usher Gardens. This specific area was actually closed off to the public, but the way the light was hitting that tree trunk caught my eye from a distance. I had to use the zoom to capture the detail, but it came out pretty well! There is something so satisfying about the way the fungi stacks up like a little ladder against the dark, rough bark. It’s amazing what you can find when you look past the path—sometimes the best textures are hiding in the restricted zones.
