Finding Colour in Grey Days

We often think of places like Mount Usher Gardens as spring or summer destinations, exploding with rhododendrons and azaleas, but they can also have a certain charm in the middle of winter. (Though, don’t get me wrong: spring and summer are my favourite and breathtaking at Mount Usher!!)

Quiet. Still. Sleeping.

I took this shot by the River Vartry earlier in the week. Almost nobody else was there (except the gardeners hard at work), and the only sound was the water rushing over the weir. I love how the Pampas grass in the foreground frames the view - it looks so soft against the cold, grey water.
