A Year Ago in Borodale

I came across this photo in my camera roll from almost a year ago. It was taken down in Borodale, County Wexford, a place that always feels a little bit like stepping into a fairytale.

There is something incredibly grounding about walking through a dense forest when the light decides to put on a show like this. The way the sun cuts through the tall pines, creating those distinct beams (crepuscular rays, if we're being technical!), completely transforms the atmosphere. It turns a regular walk into something nearly spiritual.

Borodale is actually quite a special spot. It’s a steep-sided valley carved out by the River Boro, which is a tributary of the Slaney. Because of the steep slopes, parts of the valley have been covered in woodland for a very long time, creating a rich habitat for all sorts of wildlife.
