The Irish Sea’s Raw Power

This was around this time last year. I didn’t dare get any closer. And the wind was so strong - with the sand beating against my face (quite painful!), I didn’t stay out longer than needed. The sky was blue but the wind was biting.

Here is an interesting thought: we often look at sea foam and think it looks light and fluffy, but seawater is immensely heavy. A single cubic metre of it weighs roughly 1,025 kilograms (over a tonne)! When you see a wave smashing against the sea wall like this, you are witnessing an incredible amount of kinetic energy transferring in a split second. It definitely blew the cobwebs away standing there watching it!
