Sunlight on the Granite Path
I managed to get out for a proper hike near Raven's Rock yesterday, and honestly, the atmosphere was just magical. After so long without sun it was extremely uplifting to breathe in the cool air with the faint warmth of the sun on my face!
The contrast between the deep greens of the firs and the sudden, bright splashes of gold on the path stopped me in my tracks. It felt like walking through a tunnel into a different world. The path here is quite rugged - typical sturdy granite steps you find in these parts - softened by the reddish hues of the heather and ferns at the edges.
Interesting Fact: Did you know there is a specific Japanese word for this exact visual phenomenon? It’s called "Komorebi" (木漏れ日), which refers to sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees. It captures that shifting, dappled light effect that makes a walk in the woods feel so dreamlike.
It was the perfect way to clear my head.
