Canopy in the Cold

There is something undeniably magical about a walk in the winter woods. It’s easy to focus on the frosty path ahead, but today I found myself stopping to look straight up. The way the bare branches stretch out and intertwine against the pale sky was quite mesmerising. It looks like nature’s own fractured stained glass or a complex map of veins. I chose black and white for this shot because stripping away the colour really lets those gnarly textures and the high contrast of the canopy do all the talking.
