When Light Meets Rain

Just when you think you're in for a soaking, the clouds break, and you get a moment like this. I was in Glendalough today, right when the sun and rain decided to combine forces, and the result was absolutely breathtaking.

The valley was famously carved out by glaciers during the last Ice Age, leaving behind those steep, dramatic cliffs that usually loom over the lakes. But today, the harsh lines were softened by this incredible shimmering light.

The way the backlight caught the bare winter branches and the falling droplets turned the whole scene into liquid gold. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love wandering this landscape with my phone in hand. You don't need perfect blue skies to capture the soul of Wicklow; sometimes, a bit of rain adds all the drama you need (and it makes it all the more authentic Irish!)
