Altamont’s Carpet of White

I finally made it out to Altamont Gardens after a failed attempt last week thwarted by flooding and horrendous rain. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Just look at that carpet!

The snowdrops are out in full force, creating these beautiful drifts of white against the dark, damp earth. I love how they are mingling with the purple Hellebores here; it adds such a lovely splash of contrasting colour. But for me, the real stars of this shot are those ancient tree trunks. The way the vibrant green moss clings to the bark is just stunning - it feels like a scene from a fairy tale.
