Mirror Image at Altamont
I took a trip down to Altamont Gardens yesterday. There was a little rain, a tiny bit of sun for a moment, but the light was soft and moody, turning the lake into a perfect black mirror.
I spent a good bit of time just standing by the water's edge, watching the reflections of that massive weeping willow and the tall sentinel trees. It’s hard to believe when you look at how peaceful it is now, but the lake was actually dug out by hand as a relief scheme during the Great Famine in the 1840s. It adds a bit of poignant weight to the beauty, doesn't it? Knowing that this tranquil spot was born out of such a difficult time in our history makes the stillness feel even deeper.
I take and edit my pictures with a smartphone. (My current phone is a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL).
