Kilmacurragh’s Cheeky Morning Visitor

When there was actual sunlight shining through my window this morning, I rushed over to the National Botanic Gardens at Kilmacurragh in the hope I’d beat any rain that might be on the horizon (there was, but as it turned out it waited until evening).

I was lucky enough to spot this little character running across the lawn and up a lichen-covered branch on a pine tree. It’s always a thrill seeing a red squirrel in the wild, especially when they pause just long enough for a photo! It was watching me very intently before scrambling off high into the tree.
