Nestled gently on a low ridge of ancient glacial gravels, just a few kilometres northwest of Camolin village, lies Coillte Millennium Forest, affectionately known as Camolin Wood.
The Millennium Forest Loop
This is a moderate, 3-kilometre waymarked trail that guides you through the heart of the forest, showcasing a dedicated conservation initiative designed to restore and protect Ireland's native woodland ecology.
Flora
Wander beneath a lush canopy of principal native trees, including majestic Oak, delicate Birch, Rowan, Holly, and Hazel, which stand as quiet guardians of the landscape.
The forest floor is also an intricate web of life. Depending on the season, the ground is painted with a vibrant tapestry of wild flora, alongside fascinating communities of fungi, mosses, and lichens.
Shared Trails
Be mindful that horse trekking is permitted in certain sections of the woods, adding a lovely, pastoral charm to your woodland ramble.
