Winter Gold at Glendalough

I took a wander out to Glendalough earlier in the week (and had a bad fall… but that’s a whole other story!), but as usual he atmosphere was just dripping off the trees.

I stopped near the wetlands on the valley floor to snap this just as the heavens opened with heavy rain and the sun shone simultaneously. The contrast between the dark, brooding forestry on the hills and that burst of hazy light was incredible. It really makes you realise why St. Kevin chose this spot for his monastic settlement way back in the 6th century.
