Edenvale Woods presents a tranquil, verdant escape where time seems to slow to the gentle rhythm of the River Sow. As you step onto the shaded woodland trail, the air grows crisp with the earthy fragrance of damp moss, ferns, and mature trees, soon giving way to the soothing chorus of rushing water.

The Waterfalls

The crown jewel of this roughly 2.5-kilometre trail is its picturesque series of waterfalls. While not the tallest in Ireland, their wide, dramatic flow over stepped rock faces creates a genuinely enchanting spectacle. Complementing this natural beauty are the charismatic, moss-draped ruins of a 19th-century mill and an elegant old stone bridge, which together seamlessly blend Wexford’s industrial heritage with the reclaiming power of the forest.

Practicalities

For the most spectacular views, local insiders recommend visiting shortly after a spell of heavy rain, when the falls surge with formidable, thunderous energy. The uneven, unpaved paths can become quite muddy under the forest canopy, making sturdy walking boots an absolute must. If you seek pure seclusion, arrive in the crisp early morning or during the fading golden light of a late summer evening. It is the perfect spot to pack a flask of tea, pause by the water's edge, and simply listen to the woodland come alive.
