Golden Catkins Catch the Sun

Couldn't resist capturing these beautiful hazel catkins backlit by that gorgeous, low sun.

Apparently, these dangling beauties are actually the male flowers of the hazel tree. They hang down like this to catch the breeze, scattering their pollen on the wind in hopes of reaching the tiny, easily-missed red female flowers nearby.
