Mossy Magic on the Ow
Written By Smartphone Photographer
I took a wander down by the River Ow today (in the rain), but the atmosphere was still magical. Even with the deciduous trees mostly bare, the colour in this valley is absolutely incredible thanks to the thick, vibrant green moss blanketing the fallen branches all along the banks.
Did you know that moss doesn't actually have true roots? It absorbs water and nutrients straight through its leaves, which is exactly why it thrives in these wonderfully damp, humid Irish river valleys. The whole place looked so lush despite the trees being without their leaves.
