The dazzling effect is technically known as 'crepuscular rays', caused by atmospheric haze or dust scattering the sunlight, though most of us just call them 'God rays'. Standing there, watching the golden light shift through the gloom, it felt like the whole world held its breath for a second. Just me, the damp air, and that golden glow.
